Visual essay

This visual essay explores how poetic expression can emerge from the space between images and words. Influenced by John Berger’s idea of the “gap” and René Magritte’s playful tension between text and image, I investigate how meaning is formed not through direct explanation, but through distance and interpretation. Using my project 50°55’44”N 0°58’26”E, based on the site of Dungeness, I combine sketches and reflective writing to reconstruct a personal, emotional landscape. The work invites viewers to bridge this gap themselves—transforming illustration into a form of visual poetry.
